Exposed blanks combine structural laser-welded blanks (LWB), typically with an unexposed or semi-exposed surface, with an exposed surface. Curvilinear welding takes laser welding to the next level, further reducing steel usage and making LWBs the solution of choice for more structural applications. A curvilinear weld allows more complex shapes to be incorporated into the LWB and for heavier-gauge or higher-cost steel to be concentrated only where needed. Curvilinear welding makes it possible to create LWBs for parts that are difficult to form using linear laser welding
